Book Description
In May of 1945, Lieutenant Matthew
Sanders was ordered to lead a mission into Southern Germany near the border of Austria. The
objective of the mission was to locate and remove one of the Nazi’s most
powerful super weapons hidden in a remote hangar. Sixty five years later,
Sanders’ mission is shrouded in a cloud of disinformation and mystery. The only
evidence of the mission is Sanders’ missing journal and a few old men.
Bailey Sanders, the granddaughter
of Matt Sanders, locates the missing journal at the death of her grandfather in
today’s time and begins to untangle a web of international secrets hidden for
decades. The adventure leads her to Mautheusen Concentration Camp, Antwerp, Brasilia, Barro Colorado
Island, and finally
Truth’s Lair.
The search for the truth immediately sets in motion
four groups of people interested in Lieutenant Sanders’ mission – a sleeper
cell of neo-Nazi’s connected to SS soldiers on the secret project, the Dark
Angels (a secret wing of C.I.A.), a group representing corporations worldwide,
and a secret international society devoted to maintaining a balance of power
and world peace. Bailey eventually discovers that one of these groups is
responsible for the death of her grandfather and the truth of the secret
weapon.

What a great book! I could not put it down...I HAD to find out what would happen with Bailey and her team. "Truth's Lair - Perils of the Dead Man's Diary" is full of adventure, mystery, and suspense. J. Richard Knapp brings a unique story to the table and keeps your interest long after you finish...leaving you eagerly awaiting the sequel! I appreciate that Mr. Knapp was able to tell such an exciting story and keep high interest without being age inappropriate. Finding suitable reading material for my 530 5th and 6th graders is always a challenge, so when a book meets these levels, I must recommend it. There wasn't any adult content in this book that would be questionable on a public school library shelf. The author even touched on some great learning opportunitites - from historical fiction to scientific...or is it sci-fi? Only by getting rapt up into Bailey's world will the reader understand what is going on...with twists right up until the last page.

Truth's Lair is a fascinating story that is hard to put down, it kept me guessing until the very end! I felt like a young adult again as I was engrossed in the adventurous life of the main character, Bailey. I can't wait to share this story in a few years with my own young children, they will love it too! I am excited to hear more about Bailey and her friends, I hope there is a sequel coming our way very soon!
