Bobby's Story was a very difficult book for me to write, as the story is pretty much about my life growing up in situational poverty, being the target of bullies, and having no fiends. As an educator , I have always had the deepest passion to bring bullying to an end.
Bobby's Story has been used in thousands of school across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Several large school districts in the U.S. have adopted the book as a resource for their bully prevention program. Using the book as a read-aloud text in classrooms/ individuals followed by discussions has proven very effective. I am always available to assist teachers in any way possible through Skype, email, and limited visitations.

The bully's attacks were almost unbearable... Bobby's Story, is a story of teen courage and the power inside each of us. The book is based on unpleasant events that occurred many years ago in my life. The character, Bobby, is constantly reminded of his grandfather's powerful words of life, "Wrong is wrong - no matter how many people do it, and that it only takes one person to speak out for what is right - The Power of One!" After Bobby's parents lose everything - their jobs, their home, and their dreams - his family is forced to leave all their family and friends behind. They move to the city with hopes of finding jobs and starting over. For Bobby, the struggle is about acceptance, not only from his new friends, but his new life. He must reach inside himself to find the inner strength necessary to make new friends, live in poverty, and stand up to the red-haired bully.

Knapp has served as a community volunteer most of his adult life to help children in need. The author's first significant efforts occurred in 1975, when he designed and organized a summer sports program for boys and girls in his community.
J Richard moved his family to Oregon in 1978, where he immediately began volunteer work with children in poverty. His own experiences with poverty as a teen constantly motivated his efforts. The second area was children and teens dealing with cancer. The non-profit organization continued its work for over a decade and is now a community program.
